I’m Jerry Dornbach and I’ve been creating things for most of my life.
It all started when I was young. I had an endless curiosity to figure out how things worked. Growing up in the late 60’s and early 70’s was a fun time and most of the classic toys of the time were unsafe! I often took them apart (wondering what was inside) destroying in the process and noticing how some things were made cheaply. I often asked myself “why couldn’t they make it better?”
I also loved to ride bicycles aimlessly through my neighborhood and as I grew into early adolescence I would ride until my bikes would break or fall apart, again asking myself why things were not made to last. I was naturally curious and wanted to fix and improve things myself. I realized to do this I would need to learn how to weld. So I went to welding school and became pretty good at it. I was able to fix and modify things and once I graduated I worked in industry as a Iron-worker, Fabricator and Pipeline Welder.
While in welding school I often found myself daydreaming about patterns and designs and often spent time doing creative things with metal. My teacher “Mr Zak” noticed this and encouraged and mentored me to develop a creative direction. By the time I graduated I had a young family of my own, had to pay the bills so I went right to work in the industrial sector. However I never forgot the encouraging words of Mr Zak and often would find myself building creative things on the side.
Fast forward to present day and here I am doing what I love to do. Designing, Creating and building items on a made to order basis for my customers. I’m a one man operation and I do it all myself (Including this website!)
I hope you enjoy my designs and I look forward to making your handmade furniture and decor.
